Starting off the 4th of July with a Bang (literally)

This was the first time in about 3 years I haven't had to work on the 4th of July and I was so excited to spend the day with my family! My Aunt Sandi, Uncle Bobb and 2 cousins (Tara and Bridgette) were in town from Illinois and I was excited to spend the day at the pool and then BBQ at my house for everyone.

Well...my plans were slightly altered when I went to the emergency room at 6am on Saturday and found out I had a double ear infection and ruptured my ear drum in my left ear. I was given antibiotics and pain medication and was told no swimming :(

I went home and took a nap after immediately getting sick from my pain medication and then woke up and felt much better. So Dan and I joined my family at the pool and then had a block party / BBQ at my house later that evening.

The block party / BBQ was fun! The street was closed off, all my neighbors were outside, everyone was having a great time and doing fireworks in the street (they were great fireworks!!). The evening ended with a somewhat drunken fight between a drunken stranger but all in all in was a great 4th of July.

Now if only my hearing would return back to normal.

Happy One Year

Yesterday Dan and I celebrated our One Year Wedding Anniversary.

It's been a hectic month for both of us and Dan just got back from a bachelor party the night before,s o we decided to celebrate low key and possibly try and get away for a weekend in the future to celebrate our Anniversary in style.

Yesterday we slept in, watched Brazil beat USA in the FIFA Soccer Tournament, went to lunch, took a nap, made a great dinner, and watched Season 4 of Weeds on DVD.

It's been a fantastic year and flew by so fast!

Big congrats to Dan and his 3 friends for successfully hiking half dome 2 weeks ago.

Dan has been wanting to hike it for awhile now and came home very tired but triumphant.

A few pics from his hike.

Viva Las Vegas

My great friend Alexis is getting married on July 11th and to celebrate her big day, we went to vegas for her bachelorette party.

It was a fun fun fun trip! 9 girls went and we had shirts made for each bridesmaid that said "Bride's Beezy" and the bride's shirt said "Hyphey Wifey"....if you knew the bride to be you'd understand how much these shirts were "her".

We stayed at the Flamingo hotel and had a great time.

Can't wait for the wedding.

Grad Party and The Boys in the Band

To celebrate my sister's graduation, we threw a party for her at the bar she works at with her friends.

Dan has played music all his life practically and him and his two friends (joel and rick) have been playing together for a long time. They agreed to be the musical entertainment for Rheanna's graduation party and played a set. They were great!

A few fun pics from the night.

Baby Sister Graduates

So I've been behind a lot in my blogging...but it's been a busy month!

My little sister Rheanna graduated from Cal State East Bay this month with a bachelor's degree in Liberal Studies and is going on to get her teaching credential.

My grandparents came out from Chicago for the graduation. Here's some pictures from her big day.

dog day afternoon

This morning Lola (my dog) was acting wierd and Dan and I noticed that the area surrounding her little butt was super swollen and appeared to be bothering her.

Dan took Lola to the emergency vet and turned out she needed to have a little doggie surgery! It always makes me sad when she gets hurt.

We went to pick her up later this afternoon and she had to have her booty shaved, a little area on her leg shaved for an IV, stitches, a drain put in, and has to wear a cone around her head.

Thankfully she's okay and actually quite comical because she hasn't gotten used to the cone yet and sometimes bumps into the wall or chairs around the living room.

I'm sure she can't wait for a couple weeks when she gets to take the cone off.
